Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 4, 2026
YT Viral Hunter Ultimate ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps content creators discover viral YouTube videos. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it is used, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
The Extension collects and transmits the following data to our server:
- YouTube Video IDs — extracted from youtube.com pages you visit, sent to our API to calculate virality metrics (views-per-hour, subscriber count, etc.).
We do not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number)
- Browsing history outside of youtube.com
- YouTube account credentials
- Video content or comments
2. Data Stored Locally
The Extension stores the following data locally on your device using chrome.storage.local:
- Filter preferences — your dashboard sorting and filtering settings
- JWT authentication token — if you authorize via Telegram to increase rate limits
- API URL — the server endpoint address
This data never leaves your device unless explicitly transmitted during API requests (e.g., the JWT token is sent as an Authorization header).
3. How We Use Your Data
Video IDs are used solely to:
- Query the YouTube Data API for public video statistics
- Calculate virality scores (views-per-hour ratio)
- Return results to the Extension for display
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the Extension's core functionality.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your data with third parties. Video IDs are processed by our server and are not stored permanently — they are used only for real-time API queries.
5. Data Retention
Video statistics may be cached on our server for up to 24 hours to reduce API calls and improve performance. No personal data is retained beyond the lifetime of your JWT token (7 days).
6. Authentication (Optional)
The Extension offers optional Telegram-based authentication. If you choose to authenticate:
- Your Telegram user ID is stored on our server to manage your subscription tier and rate limits
- We check if you are subscribed to our Telegram channel to determine your access tier
- No Telegram messages, contacts, or other data are accessed
7. Permissions
The Extension requires the following Chrome permissions:
- storage — to save your preferences and authentication token locally
- host_permissions (youtube.com) — to run content scripts on YouTube pages and display virality badges
- host_permissions (viral.video-samobranka.ru) — to communicate with our API server for video analysis
8. Your Rights
You can:
- Uninstall the Extension at any time to stop all data collection
- Clear local storage via Chrome settings or the Extension's options page
- Log out to remove your authentication token
- Contact us to request deletion of your Telegram ID from our server
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
